Frenchman Bay United is a nonprofit corporation organized under Maine law, effective August. 10, 2021. Frenchman Bay United's application to the IRS for recognition of public charity status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code is currently pending. Assuming Frenchman Bay United's application for 501(c)(3) status is approved: (1) FBU’s 501(c)(3) status will be retroactive to August. 10, 2021 and (2) any donations made to Frenchman Bay United on or after August. 10, 2021 would generally eligible for treatment as a tax-deductible charitable contribution, subject to ordinary limitations placed on individual donors pursuant to federal law.
